A passion for world-class hospitality

Welcome to Lakestone Lodge, run by Anna and Mike Bacchus.

We've travelled the world, living everywhere from Australia to Mongolia, so we know this is truly a special part of the world.

Before building Lakestone Lodge, Anna worked in events and Mike was a geologist - the main reason for our nomadic life. We explored cultures, met new people, cycled across countries and marvelled at natural wonders. It also gave us a genuine understanding of the hospitality industry. We know what makes an experience truly special.

Both are proud to call New Zealand home and enjoy raising their family here. They have two girls aged ten and eight.

Both Anna and Mike are avid cycle tourists. They have cycled through many different countries and have enjoyed some amazing experiences and hospitality and are keen to share their experience and knowledge with travelers to this special part of New Zealand.

We love to share with you our passion for good food, fine wine and breathtaking experiences.

We're lucky to be supported by our dedicated team of chefs, massage therapists, housekeepers and hospitality professionals who are just as passionate about your experience as we are.

Why Choose Lakestone Lodge?

Lakestone Lodge has uninterrupted views of Aoraki/Mt Cook, Lake Pukaki and the Southern Alps.
Our location: This exclusive lodge is just a short drive from the Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park offering a peaceful retreat with easy access to one of New Zealand's most stunning natural landscapes. Once there you can explore Mount Cook's famous hiking trails, glaciers and snow capped mountains.
The stars: Lakestone Lodge is also situated in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve meaning it is one of the best places in the world to see the stars. Also before you ask you can see the same stars here as you can at Lake Tekapo ;)
The Alps2Ocean Cycle Trail. We are located right on this 300km trail from Aoraki/Mt Cook to Oamaru at the coast. We have complimentary mountain bikes for guests and ebikes to hire while you explore the trail.
The food: We aim to provide fresh local cuisine for our guests. Something a little bit special that you wouldn't have at home
